Subject

Applications must be animations of any technique (draw, plasticine, flash, etc.).

This year, animations must refer to the subject: “Paths of Peace: Nonviolence and Dialogue” You will find more information in:

Interactive animations will not be accepted.


Goals

The main goals of the award are:
• Increase the creation of digital animations for peace culture to strengthen the link between the artistic community and the promotion of peace.
• Create a permanent fund of animated films, managed by Fundació per la Pau, available to any person or association that wishes to promote values of peace culture.


Who can take part?

Any physical or juridical person who presents an inedited work can take part in the award. A maximum of two works for every category are allowed.


Modalities and categories

There are two modalities:
• Spot: Spot: animations of 1 minute maximum, a special format that allows its distribution and replication through website and email.
• Short: animations of 1 minute minimum. Although they may also be distributed through Internet, they are more appropriate to be included in a DVD and in cultural and educational activities for peace.

And two categories:
• Junior: less than 18 years old. Especially for high school students.
• Senior: more than 18 years old. For net.art artists, professionals and animation enthusiasts, website editors, flash animation designers and everybody interested.


Prizes

All the awarded works and those considered suitable by the jury will be included in a DVD. There will be 1.000 copies to distribute in educational and cultural centres and to be sold to the public. They will also be exhibited in festivals and events, in cinemas, in TV, and they will be permanently displayed in the website of the award.

The awarded works will also receive an economic prize:

– Spot modality: 300 €
- Short modality: 600 €
- Audience prize: 200 €


Languages

Works on any language will be accepted. If the animation is not in Catalan, Spanish or English, text in one of these languages is needed.


Deadline and inscriptions

Deadline to receive works: 30th April, 2010

To take part you must register through the application form in the award website.


Delivery of works and formats

Films must be in a format readable by the free VideoLAN reproducer (you can get it free at http://www.videolan.org). If the film is made in flash, you can send the original in this format together with a copy readable by VideoLAN.

The deliver of the works can be made:

1) Sending the CD or DVD to Fundació per la Pau
(c/ Casp, 31, 2n 1a A – 08010 Barcelona)
Must include a copy of the application form.

2) Putting the work into a server of the participant and giving us the link to download it.

Emailed works will not be accepted.


License and distribution

Given the goal of the award to promote peace culture and to increase its promotion, all the works will be submitted to a license Creative Commons with the name of the author and Fundació per la Pau, that allows the copy, distribution and public communication of the work with certain conditions. All the works will be included in the Fundació per la Pau animations fund that will take care of them.

All the participants assume they are the authors of their works and will not include any audiovisual or phonographic material (music, image, people, products, etc.) they do not have accredited right of use. The organization is not responsible of the inadequate use of the intellectual property rights by the authors of the works.


Jury

The jury elected by Fundació per la Pau will decide the winners and can declare that the prize will not be awarded. It can also give an especial mention to some of the works, although this does not include an economic prize.

Jury’s decision is unappealable.


Right to solve eventualities

Organizers keep the right to solve any eventuality not specified in these bases.

To take part in this award means the acceptance of these bases.
